His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass - Trailer

The Golden Compass is based on the first novel in the “His Dark Materials” trilogy written by Philip Pullman. It is set in a parallel universe where a girl named Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) embarks on an adventure to save her best friend and other children who are the target of an evil experiment.

This film has an amazing cast including Nicole Kidman (Marisa Coulter), Daniel Craig (Lord Asriel), and Eva Green (Serafina Pekkala).

And for a bit of trivia: The first book in the series was originally titled “Northern Lights” but was changed to “The Golden Compass” after the North American publishers noticed that the picture of Lyra’s alethiometer on the cover resembled a large compass.
