11 Year Old Resuscitates Father, Runs 3km For Help
After surviving a car crash an 11 year old boy named Lachlan performed CPR on his critically injured father, then ran 3km (nearly 2 miles) barefoot through total darkness to get help.
Lachlan “Lochie” Nally, 11, and his father Matthew, 36, of Koolunga, were in a crash on the Red Hill to Koolunga Rd in South Australia just after 12am today.
Mr Nally was critically injured.
Lochie suffered minor injuries, including seat belt burns to his neck, two lumps on his head and a graze to his lower back but ran 3km without shoes to the Koolunga Hotel to get help.
Police Chief Inspector Graham Goodwin praised the boy, saying he could be nominated for a bravery award.
“As you can imagine he’s been in a very serious collision so that’s distressing in itself.
“He’s performed CPR on his father and he got the courage to walk 3km down the track to raise the alarm. That to me is one of the most heroic acts I’ve seen.” (Source)
That’s one brave and resourceful kid.

Kid with a big Heart indeed. This helps me to remember my childhood bravery..in darkness.

He’s father must be really proud, and grateful.

As in addition to being heroic, his parents have surely taught him well. As a child, he certainly has the right to be under parents’ protection, but he knows what needs to be done on critical moments.. That really is something

Does anyone know where to look for the video? I try to look around, but couldn’t find anything.

He should be nominated, actually. Not could. Personally, I don’t know if I’ll ever have the courage to do what the boy did. Not only did he have the sense to give his father cpr, he bravely ran 3 kilometers barefoot for help. It’s an all or nothing situation. Instead of breaking down and waiting for somebody else to help, he stepped up and did something about it on his own. Amazing…

Such is a kid who is not only brave but can make a quick and life-saving decission. That kid acted better than a profesional bodyguard could have.
Cheers!

We are simply amazed. Food for thought on how we are raising our kids. He is very intelligent and should actually be given an award. Hope our children can do something like this.

A story like that actually brings tears to my eyes….
But what is even equally amazing is that something can take place in a remote area to ordinary people - then spread like wildfire over the globe within hours

Before x-mas: “Hey dad, remember when I saved your life?, I was thinking I want a nintendo wii… or next time I might just hitchhike home, and save myself.”
June 10th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Hey there again,
It gives me much pride to let everyone know, that Lachy has been invited to Government House for Kids Courage Award this month. He has already recieved a crystal plaque from Tiwon reconising his efforts.

I wonder when he learned CPR? Never too early to teach a kid, I guess.
June 13th, 2008 at 6:40 am
He learned CPR in a small QLD school about 3-4 years ago, I couldnt believe he still remembered.

Stories like this make me nearly teary-eyed with sentiment; I wish there was more attention given to stuff like this in the media instead of the normal stories of blood, war, hate and fear - it would make the world a more bearable place.
Just my two cents,

When someting dramatical like this happens, you get ‘extra porers’ from somewhere and you can do incredible thing’s, like lift a car or run long distances.

The boy’s behavior speaks well of the farther’s educating abilities
July 12th, 2008 at 12:59 am
I hope my son does something like that for me. Well I don’t have a son, but if I did I would be proud. Just goes to show you that at times children do the most courageous things.
July 12th, 2008 at 10:55 am
A brave boy and loving son. He indeed love his father so much.
August 4th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
I have been blessed with wonderful kids and I have been teaching them to think on their feet since they could talk. That kids is exactly what a father wants his father to become, a uhman being that can take care of himself and make decisions during an emergency that can save lives. Bravo to both father and son.
August 5th, 2008 at 12:49 am
The kid should receive some kind of bravery award. Surely it inspires other kids to love their parents more and do more for them.

I think when he grows he will be athletic or medical rescuer.
