DRM Is Good For Customers, But Not For Industry Folk
From TorrentFreak:
A DVD-player that has been designed to prevent DVD-screeners from leaking to the public will be phased out because industry insiders say the DRM hurts their viewing pleasure. It seems that DRM is fine when it’s annoying the public but unacceptable when it’s affecting them.
The hypocrisy of people within the film industry is amazing.

- That’s funny. Why just now?

DRM has not been proven to curb piracy.
In fact, look at what DRM did to CD sales, and look at what it did to mp3 sales. Most major record companies are dropping DRM from their mp3 content.
Region encoding is another nuisance that should go. Why increase the benefits for pirates by adding to user frustration?!

What will come next? If DRM is not a viable solution, what will the next fix be?
Thanks,

There will never be a permanent solution because there will ALWAYS be someone seeking a way around it.

now that is classic! I think a new business model is needed. I have no idea what that is, but DRM really doesn’t work.
