MPAA Sues Peekvid And YouTVPC
Well it looks like Peekvid does have some legal problems after all.
Ars Technica is reporting that Peekvid and YouTVPC are both being sued by the MPAA. With the publicity these sites have received lately it was only a matter of time till the MPAA took notice.
The case was filed in a California federal court on Tuesday, with the general argument being that businesses should not be allowed to benefit from copyright material, even if it’s not being hosted on their own servers.
Unless they have some deep pockets I doubt Peekvid or YouTVPC will be around for much longer.

It looks like Peekvid won’t win this.
YouTVPc already shut down and reopened as a non infringing site whereas Peekvid is staying up and actually expanding the site.
History has shown that

History has shown that Peekvid will lose.
This is the first case against one of these directory sites to actually make it too court.

i’m tired of the mpaa…crappy movie after crappy movie has come out. how about this, if you want to charge me 12 dollars to see a movie…make sure it’s good or don’t be surprised when it gets leaked. the last movie i’ve seen in over a year that was any good was superbad. i’ll buy it when it comes out but every other movie i’ve seen isn’t worth the ticket prices. i know people that wait until movies come on tv and after i’ve paid to see the movie i realize i should’ve done the same thing.
