Google Acquisitions
There is an interesting thread over at the Webmaster World forums containing a comprehensive, but not quite complete, list of Google’s acquisitions over the years, as well as links to press releases and discussion for each.
The timeline starts in February of 2001 when Google acquired a Usenet discussion service and various other assets from Deja.com, and continues through to their recent purchase of Feedburner.
It’s fascinating to see the path Google has taken, gobbling up promising web properties and integrating them into their own arsenal. Many of their most popular services like Google Maps and Google Earth owe a lot to technology acquired from other companies.

Wow, it’s the Google vacuum cleaner.
I knew they were buying other companies, but that list is more massive than I had originally thought.

If you have the cash why not flaunt it…even better when you are making acquisitions that are a part of a much broader strategic plan…

For some reason Google doesn’t like this article of mine, and I put a considerable amount of time into it. All Google and Yahoo acquisitions in one convenient table. Enjoy.

Good resource for further reference, wondering who’s the next to bite the dust

That’s a great list. I also want to note, though, that Google has started offering curved borders for Google ads. And it’s about time, too!
