Analyzing Engadget’s Statistics
Yuvi has written a brilliant post dissecting Engadget’s statistics. He does a great job of cataloguing the amazing growth Engadget has seen over the years.
One piece of information in particular that caught my eye was, in their first three months of existence Engadget only recieved 25 comments. They presently average 526 comments a day.
If you aren’t getting a great deal of comments on your blog this is a good reminder that building an interactive readership can take some time.
While the analysis itself is very interesting, I was more impressed with the fact that Yuvi is only 16 years old, and on the strength of this blog post he has had a job offer from Jason Calacanis.
It’s not the first time he’s done such a great statistical analysis either. He’s also profiled Robert Scoble and his linkblog, Matt Cutts, and Raymond Chen.
Great work Yuvi, you’ve got a bright future ahead of you.

The analytics was very good and would really help engadget! This kid might have spent should have spent some quality effort on getting this done. Congrats Yuvi! I hope Yuvi would target Dan soon

Kids these days! The younger they get the more attention they grab.
Maybe I need to fake my age and start a blog on the sly and see how it goes.

I tried twice in the last hour, but it seems like Yuvi is offline…

Am sorry. The story made the frontpage of Digg(http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Engadget_Statistics_an_Analysis_by_Yuvi), and my host abandoned me. A working mirror is here: http://www.dotcache.com/http://blog.yuvisense.net/2007/05/29/engadget-analysis-part-i-posts-words-comments-categories/

16? So, is this like the equivalent of a lemonade stand or a lawn mowing business? Kudos to Yuvi! That was a pretty good read.

Yuvi your comment got stuck in moderation while I was asleep.
Congrats with the Digg front page. It’s well deserved.

Thanks! Except, ofcourse, my server went down, and I had to move it off somewhere else, and by the time I had moved it, it was off the frontpage of Digg
P.S. This is Wordpress, right? No Akismet or SpamKarma? That would save you a lot of Moderating time…

The traffic will continue for a bit so take advantage of it.
Yep Wordpress. Akismet is running but I have WP itself set to send comments to moderation if there is one or more links in them. Otherwise they go straight through unless Akismet flags them.
