Wordpress Plugin: Kill Preview 2
One of the things that has really turned me off using the built-in editor in Wordpress is how slow the edit page loads. When you use standalone editors you get used to a certain responsiveness that is pretty much non-existent with web applications.
Kill Preview 2 reduces load time by removing the iframe preview at the bottom of the page, replacing it with a post preview link in the top right hand corner.
This is a very simple and straightforward plugin but it works surprisingly well. Without the iframe window the edit page loads much quicker. If you rely on the built-in Wordpress editor to compose your posts I’d suggest trying this out.

Dan,
Can you point me to a tutorial on how to load this into the Wordpress template?
I am new to Wordpress and would also need this to load your Prosense theme.

For both plugins and themes you need to upload the files to the /wp-content/themes or /wp-content/plugins directory. Then in your admin panel they will appear under “Presentation” or “Plugins”. Plugins need to be activated on that page for them to begin functioning.

Correct me if I’m wrong, Dan, but isn’t this feature available with the upgrade to WordPress version 2.2?

It would be great if it was. I haven’t played with 2.2 yet. I’m waiting for the dust to settle before I install it.

It’s good that they’ve added it. It’s made this post redundant though.

The Post Preview has been deleted from WP 2.2 and replaced by a link that opens a new window. It took me hours to find it.
