Yahoo! To Rebrand And Upgrade MyBlogLog
There hasn’t been much news out of MyBlogLog lately but when it rains, it pours. Speaking at SOBcon yesterday Robyn Tippins (MyBlogLog community manager), mentioned some of the changes that are in the pipeline.
- Yahoo! will be rebranding MyBlogLog. YahooBlogLog?
- A complete site redesign is on the way.
- A new “Widget 2.0″ is coming with hover features.
- Yahoo! is working to remove offensive photos to make MyBlogLog more appealing to conservative business blogs.
- A function to turn off your presence for some types of sites is going to be added.
No timeline for any of the changes was announced.
One feature that wasn’t mentioned, and maybe Eric or Robyn could shed some light on this, is the private label communities like the one Techcrunch has. Scott Rafer (MyBlogLog CEO) mentioned them briefly in an interview back in February. To quote Scott in the interview, he said that they wanted to implement private label communites “for everyone as soon as we can”. I really hope this feature hasn’t been put on the backburner.

Yeah, Paul. Geez!
I’ve been using Schmedley.com on occasion to get used to the whole hovering widgets thing.

I suppose their first action will be to migrate authentication to use the yahoo account. The same way they did it with flickr.

It’s about time, the site looks ugly as heck!

Hey, how do I get a star next to my name?
May 15th, 2007 at 5:11 am
Ugly is an understatement.
Maybe I’m just superficial but the prospect of a slick new web 2.0 interface has me excited.
Ali, for every ten comments you get a star.
Which reminds me I have to edit that plugin to remove the ridiculously long trail of stars I have after my name.

Whatever, Dan. We all know you’re the commentator on your own blog.

202 comments out of 1201 is a good effort I think.

Sounds and looks like they may be reading comments on your blog. Any change is an improvement. It is ugly to look at the way it is now.
It is awful spammy, too. Can’t say I like the new name either, or the idea of authentication.
I do like jer’s Y!BlogLog as an alternative.

They must surely remove wrong user avatars, it’s good they removed the GIF animated ones earlier.
