Automattic Stats: WordPress.com Stats For Self-Hosted Blogs
Up until recently Wordpress.com’s stats tracking service was only available to blogs hosted at Wordpress.com, but with the release of the Automattic Stats plugin, those of us with self-hosted blogs will finally be able to take advantage of this service.
WordPress.com’s stats package gives users a simple snapshot of the most popular metrics for bloggers.
- Unique visits/Pageviews
- Referrers
- Top Posts
- Search Engine Terms
- Outbound Clicks
- Incoming Links
Here are some more details:
Installing this stats plugin is much like installing Akismet, all you need is to put in your API Key and the rest is automatic.
…
Because all of the processing and collection runs on our servers and not yours, it doesn’t cause any additional load on your hosting account. In fact, it’s one of the fastest stats system, hosted or not hosted, that you can use.

The stats plugin is a great addition as I use it on my free wordpress blog. http://goldcoaster.wordpress.com I would miss this feature if I went to a hosted blog so I am glad they have just released this.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll definitely take a look at this.

I installed it yesterday and it’s really neat. I like it. The results are displayed nicely, easier to view than in Statcounter which I also use. But I wish the time could be adjusted from GMT so that the day boundaries could correspond to the real ones in my time zone. Looks like this can’t be changed?

Marde - I’ll have a look but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could change the time zone settings on the profile page.
