MyBlogLog Adds Twitter To Profiles

Twitter’s popularity just keeps on growing, and considering nine out of every ten people using it have their own blog this is a really smart move from the MyBlogLog team.
Here’s what Eric had to say about the new feature:
As of today, your Twitter can now be broadcast on MyBlogLog too. If you have a Twitter account, just go to your profile page, click the link under your screen name and you can automatically display your latest Twitter post on your MyBlogLog profile page. If the Twitter guys add third-party authentication we have a couple of other cool ideas.
Like Eric, I was not a fan of Twitter to begin with. From a bystanders point of view the concept seems silly. But contrary to what some people believe, Twitter is not just about what you had for breakfast. There is alot of active discussion that takes place and more importantly, from a blogging perspective, it is a great promotional tool.

It’s all a bit ‘me too’ and not as integrated as it could be.
For example: Twitter have their own widget, so having that integrated into my MyBlogLog profile page would add an even greater sense of community if it were to then make comments from other Twitters who’re on MyBlogLog linkable, too…

Eric does talk about some other features they would like to add but they are dependent on Twitter adding third party authentication. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

Wayne, I don’t quite understand what you would like us to do? It sort of sounds like you want us to change their widget in some way, which is unlikely, but we might be able to create the same functionality outside their widget. Can you explain in a bit more detail what you are thinking?

I thought I’d been very clear, so here goes again.
When I’m in Twitter, I don’t just see what I’m doing, I’m seeing what other people are doing, too.
With that in mind, I’d like to see the same thing replicated in MyBlogLog.
If the people who’re Twittering along side me (now being shown in MyBlogLog) are also on MyBlogLog, then their names become clickable, too.
That way, casual visitors get to see who I’m in contact with, which enforces the community thing.
Hope that helps?

I myself dont use Twitter. It’s getting hard to keep up with these widgets, huh. Well, unless it’s really is useful, I wouldn’t even waste my time to add another alien creature on my blog page.

I think Twitter is just fun, so having it integrated with MyBlogLog is a cool thing.
I think if sites like Twitter or MyBlogLog would add openid support, we’d all be better off!

I thought Twitter was pretty sweet, then I just started to think about it. Its one thing that I do it every few hours and it is another when people do it every 5-10 minutes. Yeah I was one of the people who updated a ton, now I don’t really.
For the whole MyBlogLog adding Twitter, I think it as hey why not, they can use each other to boost their services respectively.

It may work for some folks, but I do not see the value of Twitter.
Actually, it seems it would be annoying. I am not a user…enough to do already like most folks. Who needs a another distraction.

“It may work for some folks, but I do not see the value of Twitter.”
Agreed.
For you, there’s no value. For some, Twitter is almost like SMS for the web.
And without wanting to sound totally self-promotional (oops .. too late!) there’s a lot of stuff Twitter can do, and could do in the future, which I’ve written about…

To Wayne:
OK. I will check it out. I had already joined your community over at MBL. Win me over.
