The Top 100 Australian Blogs
I’ve been meaning to mention this but as usual I got caught up with other things and didn’t get around to it.
Meg from Dipping into the Blog Pond and Craig Harper have both compiled lists of the top 100 blogs in Australia. Craig’s list uses Technorati as a ranking measure, whilst Meg’s uses a formula which takes into consideration Technorati rank, as well as Alexa rank. You can find Meg’s list here, and Craig’s is in the sidebar of his blog.
Both are admittedly quite basic in their methods of ranking but this is only a starting point. They will be refined, they will grow larger, and I’m confident their usefulness will become more apparent in time.
I was lucky enough to make it onto both lists. A respectable 44th on Craig’s list, and a surprising 16th on Meg’s.
I’m slowly working my way through both lists and I plan on visiting every blog on them. I imagine there were quite a few of blogs that didn’t make the cut and I want to visit them as well. So if you are an Aussie blogger feel free to leave a comment in this post with a link to your blog and I promise I’ll swing by.
For those of you in Melbourne, Darren from ProBlogger is organising a meetup. There is no date set at the moment but you can stay in the loop by joining the Melbourne Weblogger Meetup Group. Sara from the Bargain Queen blog let me know there is going to be a blogger meetup in Sydney as well on Thursday 26 April at 7:00pm at the Arthouse Hotel in the city. You can find more details here. If my week goes as planned you should see me there.

Do you know of any Australian or UK blog directories that I can join?
Seems anyone can join the popular US directories, but I am having a problem finding directories outside the US to join.
Thanks

What a great idea - I have just returned to Melbourne so will have to try and meet up with those bloggers based in Melbourne.

Well, that’s some nice rankings for you, and it’s good to go visiting blogs around you to see how you can improve on yours.

There are quite on the lists that I have been reading for a while without knowing they are Australian. Should be fun making my way through the list.
Love the site redesign.

Hello!
I might suggest to have a look at this chart:
http://it.blogbabel.com/
and
http://es.blogbabel.com/
It is a custom engine with its own spider and using cross data from Google, Yahoo, Technorati, etc.
I think that you might contact teh authors and make an Australian chart…
