What Is The NoFollow Tag?
The rel=”nofollow” tag is a HTML attribute that is used to tell search engines to assign no value to the link it is attached to.
How well you rank in search engines results pages is determined by the number and quality of links pointing to your site, so when the nofollow tag is used it will negate any value a link to your site would normally have.
The nofollow tag was originally created to combat comment spam, but of late people have started to question its effectiveness as well its unintended side effect of punishing people who engage in legitimate discussion on blogs.
All the major search engines say they respect the nofollow tag but from what I have observed Yahoo seems to ignore it.

Not only Yahoo, but Google doesn’t seem to be considering it as well. If you check your Google Sitemaps account and incoming links exactly, then you may find many links with nofollow attribute in the list.
So what is the point of nofollow? There’s no point at all.
Moreover I have seen charts showing traffic for one blog before and after releasing the “nofollow” disaster. The traffic to that blog decreased by 10 times!
If man starts a blog then he/she should have enough time to check for new comments and those which are of low quality should be deleted immediately + marked as spam as well. In addition, using the nofollow evil should be forgotten and webmasters should point to other domains directly.
Why? Let’s think: I do something for the webmaster, but webmaster doesn’t do anything for me. I add content at no cost to his blog, but I don’t get anything in exchange.
Is it worth it? No! That’s why I am posting comments on nonofollow blogs usually.

No Follow tags should have never been invented. They are a waste of time. I have a spam detector on my blogs and have the option to approve or not all comments. What do I gain? Content, indexed pages, ytraffic, cash.
Very simple.
