My blogging progress
I thought I’d do an update on the blog and how it’s been doing.
It’s only been a couple of weeks now since I started to really work hard on this blog and I think that I’m starting to make some progress.
- My Technorati rank has jumped from the millions to 107,573.
- I’m starting to see some traffic from google. It’s not a flood of traffic yet but it’s a start.
- Daily traffic is edging over 200 uniques a day, 2000 pageviews, and 3000 hits.
- RSS subscribers has been up and down. It was over 20 at one stage but dropped back down again.
So thanks to everyone who has been reading and commenting, I really appreciate it.
My goals for the next 4 weeks:
- A Technorati ranking under 50,000.
- Daily traffic over 500 uniques.
- Increase my % of visits from google. At the moment google is only sending me about 6% of my visitors.
- Have at least 50 RSS subscribers.
- Work on social networking and making more contacts.
- Most of important of all. Write more.
They are all reasonable goals to achieve. I may be aiming a little high but I’d rather aim high and come up short than aim low and do the same.
Update: Looks like I just dropped below the 100,000 mark on the Technorati rankings to 96,325. Sweet.

Your blog looks clean and sharp. Nothing too exciting, but that’s okay. For such a young blog you’re doing a great job Sevn. Keep it up. I’m sure in four weeks you’ll be above and beyond your goals! I’ll help you anyway I can. Keep in touch.

Thanks Bryan. I’ve been trying to work on the look of the blog but I’ve been caught up in so many things I haven’t had the chance. This weekend though I’m definetly going to get it done.

Oh you should get that Technorati rank pretty soon. I noticed with my previous domain (tingram.ca) I was at 65,000 which was like ~75 links from ~55 blogs, though as it stands now with (www.tyleringram.com) I am 101,500 which is 87 links from 39 blogs.
Keep it up I know you can do it and I’m definitely going to be watching too.

Congrats on the progress of your blog! I kinda like the “cleanliness” of your blog and it’s a reminder to me that I need to clean up mine! You have some great content here and I’ll be checking in often…Thanks for visiting my blog, by the way!

Thanks for your comments Maria. I was really attracted to the minimalistic aesthetic of this theme. I do plan on adding a few touches to it but that todo list keeps getting longer.

I’m curious — how did you go from in the millions to 100,000 in a few weeks? I’d love to see a post on that. I’m sure you’d get a lot of traffic from a post like that, too.
I just started working hard on my blog too. I put it up back in August but had a lot of other commitments (finishing a novel and sending it out to agents, for one) and am just now buckling down to start driving traffic.
I’d love to hear what’s worked for you. I’m going to be launching some viral campaigns. Maybe we can learn from each other.

Adrian I’ve made alot of progress actually. More than I would have expected. Still trying to hit those targets though.

Hi Dan!
It might be useful to do a John Chow and give some insight into how you’re getting the traffic to your ‘blog in the first place.
A lot of first-time ‘bloggers probably don’t even know about the power of the ping, so there’s obviously a lot to know and a lot to learn…

Wow, I’ve had my blog up for over a month and have no links! But its my first time on my first blog. I have confidence that it will get better. Appreciate your info! I’ll keep checking in!
