Don’t forgot to backup your blog
There is a saying that I picked up a long time ago and I’ve kept drilling it into my head since the time I started dealing will valuable data.
“Backup early, backup often.”
I’ve got a lot of documents, pictures, and various other bits and pieces on my PC that would make me go into a Hulk rage if I lost. So I backup all the time. CDR’s and DVDR’s are so cheap these days there is no excuse to take a couple of minutes to burn your files to disc.
Blogs however are a different beast, but having backups is even more critical in this case. Your blog data is being stored remotely, and is really out of your hands. Imagine if you’ve been writing a blog for three years and you wake up one day and find the hard drive on the server you host your blog has died and you have no backups. Most webhosts will have backup systems in place but with something that valuable to you can you really leave it in someone elses hands and hope for the best?
LyteByte have a write-up discussing how to backup your posts and comments, as well as wordpress itself along with whatever plugins and themes you’re running.
Making backups of your blog isn’t as time consuming as you may think.

I need to remember to back up the databases. My custom blog script is stored on 3 computers so I’m not worried about loosing it, but my database isn’t really backed up automatically… yet
